CLEANUP ROADTRIP

Why it Matters ?

We believe that everyone can make an impact, and often, all it takes is one small, positive action to get going. Picking up trash isn't the answer to all environmental problems, of course, but it's one of the simplest ways to get people from standstill to start—anyone can do it and it feels incredibly rewarding when a littered place in nature becomes clean.

Our concept

The Planet Matters team went on a 14-day journey across every province in Austria, Germany and Switzerland collaborating with students and company employees to clean up plastic waste in nature. Along the way, we share engaging and viral content on social media, inspiring others to take action. Through our efforts, we raise awareness about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling waste responsibly. To further motivate participation, we reward litter-pickers via our Planet Matters app, encouraging people to join us and make a difference.

1. Getting started

After a short motivational workshop on sustainability, plastic pollution and waste sorting we hand out garbage bags, gloves and tongs to participants.

2. Cleanup action

Participants dive into collecting waste, energized by fun challenges such as “Who collects the most trash?” or “Who discovers the funniest piece of trash?” These playful competitions not only motivate everyone but also give participants a chance to win exciting prizes.

3. Time to wrap it up

After the cleanup, the collected waste is carefully sorted, tracked through the Planet Matters app, and disposed of responsibly. Winners are celebrated with prizes during a lively award ceremony, where the entire group receives a upcycled cleanup certificate and eco-friendly branded giveaways.

4. Reflection

We take time to reflect on the experience and discuss practical ways to reduce waste and improve sustainability in our daily lives. This helps turn the momentum from the cleanup into lasting habits.

Our Frühjahrsputz Initiative

Each year, we launch our Spring Cleanup initiative to start the season fresh, ensuring nature is ready to bloom in a clean environment. Over two weeks, we focus on clearing out litter that accumulated during winter, removing everything that doesn’t belong in nature. Our aim is to encourage everyone to get involved, whether by joining one of our organized cleanups or simply taking small actions, like picking up a stray can. With our motto, "Every positive action counts," we create a powerful wave of collaboration and goodwill, inspiring people to come together for a cleaner, healthier planet each spring.
